The advantages of timber frame construction for building wooden houses are primarily its outstanding efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Almost any floor plan is compatible with timber frame construction, which
is why the method offers great flexibility. Whether a detached house, a terraced house, a house extension, or a bungalow: anything is possible with timber frame construction. This construction method also allows for thin walls while maintaining good insulation performance. Finally, wood as a building material inherently offers excellent thermal insulation, which harmonizes perfectly with timber frame construction.
The completed timber frame house project is a comprehensive documentation consisting of architectural, structural, and technical plans. It is prepared by authorized planners according to current building standards and the latest building regulations.
Timber frame construction originated in North America and spread to Europe. There, she encountered post-and-beam construction, which evolved from traditional timber framing. Today, timber frame and post-and-beam construction are the two most common methods of timber construction. In timber frame construction, a kind of "skeleton" is first erected from the load-bearing elements. This timber frame is then sheathed with OSB, plasterboard, or wood panels. The wall structure in this type of timber construction therefore consists of the load-bearing timber studs, which are sheathed not only on the inside but also on the outside. An insulation layer is typically installed in the resulting cavity.
